Justice Innovation Group (JIG)

A national community reimagining how justice services are designed and delivered.

The Justice Innovation Group (JIG) brings together a unique mix of people from across the justice ecosystem including frontline advisers, academics, legal technologists, innovators, funders, and policymakers, all united by a shared mission: to make justice services more accessible, effective, and user-centred through innovation.

We meet quarterly online for open, informal learning, and once a year we gather in person for a high-energy conference filled with talks, tools, demonstrations, and shared problem-solving. JIG is a free and inclusive space where the advice sector can connect, experiment, and build confidence in using technology safely and creatively.

Our Vision

We want JIG to transform the capacity of the advice sector so that every organisation, large or small, can confidently harness the benefits of digital innovation while protecting against its risks.

As a Smart Justice initiative, JIG will remain:

  • Open: free to join and inclusive for all
  • Practical: focused on real challenges faced by advisers and communities
  • Collaborative: a place where we build together, not compete
  • Forward-looking: shaping a healthier, more equitable justice ecosystem

We aim to make justice innovation visible, exciting, and equitable, shifting power so the advice sector can stand on equal footing with government, big law, and tech.

Why JIG Matters

Innovation in the justice sector can feel overwhelming, confusing, or out of reach, especially for frontline organisations. JIG breaks down those barriers by offering:

  • A supportive community
  • Practical learning
  • Real examples of what works
  • A safe space to explore new ideas
  • Connections across the ecosystem

Together, we’re building momentum for a more inclusive, effective, and human-centred justice system.
